Our Governors
A school's Board of Governors is accountable for the use of public funds, the quality of education provided by the school and its contribution to the wider community.
Our Board of Governors is made up of staff representatives; community representatives; parents; and governors appointed by the Local Authority.
Our governors' duties include:
- setting the school's strategic direction, policies and objectives;
- approving the budget;
- reviewing progress against the budget and objectives;
- challenging and supporting senior staff;
- playing a part in appointing staff.
Anyone aged 18 or over can become a school governor and you don’t need to have a family member attending our school to be a governor here. No specialist qualifications are needed - enthusiasm, commitment and an interest in education are the most important qualities, though any practical or professional skills that you can offer the school are, obviously, of great value to us. School governors make an important contribution to education and to the local community, and can expect to find the experience both professionally and personally rewarding.

The Trustees of OAK Multi Academy Trust believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.
The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision-making.
Due to our relatively small governing bodies, we do not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.
