On the 1st of April 2018, Overdale Junior School converted to become an academy and at the same time became a founder member of Oak Multi Academy Trust.
This was the result of a consultation held between 9th March and 7th April 2017 by the heads and governors of Brookside Primary, Manor High, Overdale Infant, Overdale Junior and Woodland Grange.
