Keeping Safe and Support

Safeguarding Statement – Overdale Junior School
In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE 2025)

At Overdale Junior School, we have a statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. In accordance with the Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025 guidance, we are required to share any concerns we may have about a child’s safety or well-being with relevant external agencies, including Children’s Social Care, health professionals and the police, where appropriate.

While schools are not responsible for investigating child protection concerns, we are legally required to refer concerns to the appropriate safeguarding partners. Wherever possible, and when it does not place a child at further risk, we will inform parents or carers when a referral is being made. However, there may be occasions—particularly when advised by Children’s Social Care or the police—where we are unable to do so immediately.

We fully recognise the worry and distress that parents and carers may feel in such situations. Please be assured that all actions taken by the school are guided by our commitment to act in the best interests of the child at all times.

If you have any concerns about the safety, welfare, or well-being of a pupil at Overdale Junior School, please contact the school directly. You can speak with one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) by calling the school office, or by emailing: safeguarding@overdale-jun.leicester.sch.uk
