JLT – Junior Leadership Team

Junior Leadership Team

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) plays a key role in shaping school life by representing the student voice and promoting our school values. Team members are chosen for their leadership potential, commitment, and positive attitude.

What JLT Members Do:

  • Represent their peers and share feedback to help improve the school.

  • Plan and lead events and student-led initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and the wider school community.

  • Model excellent behaviour and uphold school values at all times.

Commitment & Expectations:
Members are expected to attend regular meetings, work collaboratively, and demonstrate the highest standards of conduct both in and out of school. Any serious breach of behaviour expectations may result in a review of their position on the team.

Junior Leadership Team Roles

At Overdale Junior School, our Junior Leadership Team gives pupils the opportunity to develop leadership skills while making a real difference in school life. Each member takes on a specific role, supporting school values and helping to create a positive, inclusive, and caring environment.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors
Promote kindness and respect across the school. They lead anti-bullying campaigns, support peers, and help raise awareness about how to build a safe and welcoming school community.

Classroom Ambassadors
Represent their classmates by sharing ideas and feedback during meetings. They support new pupils, help with classroom tasks, and promote inclusion and teamwork.

Eco-Rangers
Lead environmental initiatives such as recycling, energy-saving, and gardening projects. They inspire others to care for the planet and help keep our school eco-friendly.

Playground Activity Supervisors
Help make break times fun and inclusive by leading games and encouraging everyone to join in. They promote fair play and support children on the playground.

Restorative Rangers
Help resolve conflicts and promote positive relationships using restorative approaches. They encourage empathy, fairness, and open communication among their peers.

Student Librarians
Support the running of the school library by organising books, helping classmates choose reading material, and promoting a love of reading through events and activities.

Children can apply to be part of the Junior Leadership Team by expressing interest in one of the specific roles. As part of the process, they will have the opportunity to take part in a democratic selection, helping them understand the importance of pupil voice, fairness, and responsibility in school life.
