Operation Encompass
Overdale Junior School is proud to be part of Operation Encompass, a national initiative supporting children who have experienced domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass is a partnership between schools, police and safeguarding agencies. It enables schools to receive information when a child has been present during, witnessed or been affected by a domestic abuse incident.
Receiving this information allows us to provide appropriate support at the earliest opportunity. A trained safeguarding lead will consider the child’s individual circumstances and put support in place where needed.
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 recognises children who see, hear or experience the effects of domestic abuse as victims in their own right. We understand the significant impact domestic abuse can have on children’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, relationships and learning, and we are committed to providing sensitive and effective support.
Information shared through Operation Encompass is treated in accordance with safeguarding and data protection requirements and is used solely to support the welfare of the child.
